Our family always held a big reunion every New Year’s Day. It was a pot-luck affair and our many extended relatives brought all the favorite family recipes. Some of them were a bit too sophisticated for the oh-so-sensitive stomach of my younger self, to tell you the truth. It took me a long time to develop a taste for spiced, boiled pork, for instance. (Otherwise known as cretons or corton.)

…and a Happy New Year!

I love your posts! They’re so funny. I only have one sister, and yet I can relate to a lot of your posts. I absolutely love your cut-out artwork too. Such a creative concept. Keep it coming!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALSO

I hope this year is not so barfy for you! Best wishes!

Brilliant!! Loved it! We had very many a trip like this one, though it was always my older sister who couldn’t take any car, boat, plane, train trip without getting sick! hehehehe … (there are four girls in my family!) Happy New Year!

I couldn’t stop laughing, after the first year of barfing in their hats it became tradition!

I love the hats, the “My Child is an Honor Student” sticker, the face slowly getting greener – everything! Great job!

Ewww! :-)

Great artwork. Great storytelling. I look forward to the next!

heh )) I liked the barf “shot” angle :)

Throwing up in the car is a family tradition. Let it live on forever!

What a sense of humor! Just plain enjoyable. You must have so much fun putting these scenes together. Do you sometimes tell stories about your life? I have a hunch you are a pretty good story teller. Thanks for the laughs and candid thoughts about life. Have a fantastic New Year.

The bumper sticker is brilliant, truly. Your posts are awesome. Always.

Oh I love it. Oh it hurts my stomach but I love it. The hats, the bumper sticker…you’ve outdone yourself this time. I wish I could steal your talent and steal my husband’s childhood story and do one of my own about the time he barfed into a Dairy Queen dilly bar freezer case. Together we could rule the universe.

There are so many details I love about your scenes. I find myself looking at them over and over. I had to make models in school, and sometimes things like a bas relief. So I can appreciate the time it takes to to cut out tiny little bits just for a moment’s notice, if anyone noticed at all. Rest assured, I’m noticing.

“My Child is an Honor Student.” Priceless.

An auspicious start indeed. So many memories of my own childhood (two girls and two boys). Priceless.
-
Lol! Brilliant!Great details!
-
You even make barf look cute ;) Great job!
-
How is it possible to make some felt cut-outs come alive so brilliantly? And the girls are recognizable from post to post.
Brilliant in its simplicity.

I was always the kid who got carsick. Once I got carsick on a five mile drive – I don’t think I’ve ever seen my mom so frustrated as that time.
-
Can totally relate. I STILL get carsick. it stinks. :-(
-
Just love your blog – and can totally appreciate the ‘ick’-iness of carsickness..
-
‘My Child Is an Honor Student’. Brilliant touch there. :)

Which child was the honour student?

I remember when my brother threw up chimichangas because he couldn’t stand the smell of the lobster that my mother was cooking.
