I assume you are all familiar with the Chicken Dance? (If not, click here! to see a you tube video and become acquainted.)
I still sing the song this way to this day. Thank you, Chrissy.

The tiniest sister explained!
Is that you falling?
Yes, I am a terrible skater and a total klutz. :)
Same here.
Love it!
:D Thanks!
I had to sing it out loud to get the full joy of it. Amazing. I love the roller skating rink!
:) I love imagining everyone singing this. Totally making my day.
Oh how I miss the roller rink ….
And chicken dancing through cut paper – is there anything you cant do ?!
There is something magical about the roller rink. It always seemed like anything might happen there.
So doing this at the next wedding.
Oh, definitely.
I love this version so much more than the “classic” one! Happy National Chicken Dance Day!!!!!
Hahaha! Even my sweet, innocent toddler sings this version.
Fabulous as usual. And thanks for introducing the chicken dance. I love that it’s described as “unsettling”. I couldn’t agree more. Kiss my butt, Myron!
Here in the States, the chicken dance is done at wedding receptions, roller skating rinks, and sometimes school dances. It is possibly the most ridiculous dance to survive decades of other, some would say better, dance crazes.
I loved it! The expressions are priceless. The full bellied laugh was so contagious that I laughed out loud!
My 40th birthday party was a roller skating party. Great fun.
How fun! I always wished I was graceful on skates. Like Olivia Newton-John in Xanadu… She was so aptly cast as a muse. :D
Ditto the second half of nonstepmom’s comment!
These were the tiniest sisters I ever made! It took me so much longer to make them, hence the short-but-sweet strip :)
u have been nominated for a-lovely-blog-award!
check out http://santuonline.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/my-first-blogger-award/
spread the love!
LOVE!
Thanks! :)
The expression on the evil laugh in the last frame is EXCELLENT! Pure sneering laughter right there!
Thanks, it’s my very favorite Chrissy expression :)
That is my chuckle for the evening. Thanks. M.
:) Glad I could give you a laugh!
I thought this was going to be an Arrested Development reference.
I wish! The AD chicken dances are brilliant.
“Chickens don’t clap!”
Ah, the chicken dance! And all those memories of family weddings, and of my mom clucking it up.
:) How cute!
Love how it all comes into view! I can’t hear this song without hearing my father-in-law’s deep voice singing it off-key into the microphone at my wedding. I do like this version better!
Haha, oh my. Are there real lyrics to that song?
Oh so funny!!!! Love the scaling done to show depth! Genius!!!!
Thank you :) Those tiny sisters were a challenge!
OMG- I bet. The small scale you work with( to start with) is a small canvas. That’s why I’m so amazed when I see the tiny details.
It took me a moment.. that is what we used to sing! Lol!
I was wondering if I’d find anyone else who sang that version!
I don’t think I ever knew the words. I’ll be singing it all day!
It gets stuck in my head at least once a month. With that song and the entirety of “Back to the Future 1-3” and “The Mighty Ducks 1” constantly running through my head, I don’t know how I ever manage to have a real thought.
I feel like we could set this to music and put it on the middlest sister playlist, I love the chicken dance!!!
DO IT
Reblogged this on Ramblings of a Misguided Blonde and commented:
Still in love with The Middlest Sister. I wish I had a tiny fraction of her talent.
Thanks for the reblog :)
You’re welcome! My Mom and I are fans!
Love your blog!
Lindsey
I laughed so much, and I did sing along. Is it really National Chicken Dance Day! Hahahahahahaha!
MOM
Hmm.. I’m not sure!
I’d like to thank Chrissy, too. Fabulous job!
Chrissy, if you are reading, we thank you. And we forgive you for stealing and subsequently ruining our favorite vintage wool sweater from Cherry Hills. Wait, no we don’t.
like always loved it ..too cute :)
Thank you! :D
I LOVE Chrissy’s manic laughing face!
I love it too.
That’s the clean version–the dirty one features a certain word that rhymes with “duck.” Anyway, did you recycle the Chrissy cutout from the “I am right, you are wrong” cartoon?
Yes, that cut-out is a fan favorite! And by “fan favorite” I mean one fan in particular, my high school BFF. Hi, Ash! :)
That particular cut-out appears every time Chrissy is especially pleased with herself. I think I’ve used it 3 or 4 times so far.
Well, I’m a fan too, and that little slice of Chrissiness is also one of my favourites, so Nicki, I guess your fan base is bigger than you think. ;)
Best lyrics EVER!
It is really fun to sing for some odd reason.
I can only do the chicken dance when I’m highly intoxicated, which is only a small fraction of the wedding receptions I attend. I have a feeling these words will come out of my mouth next time, whether willingly or not.
Yay! Please send video footage!
I was just thinking that, and I have a wedding to go to this weekend. Look out, world!
Reporting back in…they did NOT do the Chicken Dance at the wedding. What is with the modern generation???
so cute! made me laugh :)
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it!
Chrissy has an evil muahahaha laugh.
Yes, she definitely does. I should record her real laugh secretly the next time we are together. Charlotte can use it on her next track!
HEART!! Especially love the nostrils with the HA! HA! HA! :D
wow i didnt know theres instructions for this lol, some one should write the history of it, because i dont know it really well. i remember watching it when i was a baby, and im from the middle east lol
who invented this dance ?
My first visit to your blog… Have to say I LOVE IT! The chicken dance is an all time fav, and definitely one to teach all children of the world. This is the answer to world peace!
So funny! I had never heard this version of the song until my daughter’s friend taught it to her during a playdate this weekend. Needless to say, I’ve been hearing it ever since and I almost spit my water out when I saw this post. lol. Love it!
Did you know that in St. Louis, this song is called the DUCK Dance? So weird, the rest of the world calls it the Chicken Dance. The things you learn from college roommates… :P
