Those birds chased me (and my cat) every day until the next winter. To this day, I am wary of blue jays.

Blue Jays are mean, vicious, nasty people.

We had ferocious mocking birds. One even landed on a sister’s head and pecked her as she ran away. Love the evil red red eyes.
-
That is awful! I somehow avoided getting pecked, but my poor kitty was not so lucky!
-
I feel bad for your kitty!
I, um, feel less bad for my older sister. ;)

HAHAHAHA! We had an aggressive mockingbird to deal with. With the Padawan was wee, he wore a helmet to use his bubble mower.

Most birds are very territorial when nesting. I’ve been chased by bluejays before too. It’s rather scary.

Ugh. We currently have a Blue Jay nest above our deck. I resfuse to go anywhere near it. Raptors, I tell ya.

I don’t blame you!

You’re not a fan of The Hunger Games, then?
And did you name your cat after Rapunzel?
-
I love The Hunger Games, despite my distrust of blue jays. Yes, the cat was named Rapunzel because she was… a long haired cat. (Yuk yuk yuk.)

I think your art and your stories are truly amazing!

Thank you! That’s very kind :)

They thought you were going to hurt their babies. If they could understand you, they probably would have been fine with you.

Bluejays are nasty.
My brother and I were dive bombed for years by a butterfly. I never learned what we had done to deserve this. Or how the butterfly transmitted the death threat to subsequent generations.
-
I had the same experience with chickens. And on the first day of school, too.
-
I guess I’ve been lucky. I’m going to stay away from the blue jays in my yard! Love this great story. Almost missed the evil eyes–love them!

You always make me smile. Or laugh out loud—and I always marvel that your work is funny, adorable AND graphically impeccable!

These are so beautiful and creative.

This was awesome and scary. Loved it!

You have good reason to be wary. Your photo is hanging in the Blue Jay Post Office as “Most Wanted.”

Luckily, I no longer have those snaggle teeth and unfortunate bangs!
